SBC @ Prayer ~ Vancouver Olympics

MORE THAN GOLD – Thanks to over 1160 volunteers from the US, Canadian and International churches in the last 2-3 weeks. The excitement continues in Vancouver.  The Opening and Closing Ceremonies and several venue tickets are sold out for the 2010 Paralympics March 12-21. There are a few teams coming (about 35 people) to help. Most of the action will be in Whistler so plans are in the making for transporting people there and what can be done in Vancouver during this time.  PRAY that things will come together very quickly, and that doors will open for housing in Whistler for some of the volunteers. ASK that our witness as ambassadors for Christ will open hearts to hear and respond to God’s redemptive message.

“It has been an exciting, exhausting, unbelievable month. Many of you told us you were praying for us and we appreciate it so very much. We were very conscious of the fact that it was solely God’s grace that kept us going. This entire More Than Gold effort has been bathed in prayer for at least 6 years. Persistent prayer literally “tilled the soil” of the hard ground in Vancouver and Whistler. Leaders of one local ministry (YWAM) told me that they have had the most fruitful time of ministry they have ever seen in the past 16 years here – people wide open to talking about Christianity and being prayed for/with on the street in areas that were previously labeled “hard ground”.  We enjoyed much favour in this city. Reminds me of Acts 2:47! Pray that this continues.”
