Gospel = Proclamation + Demonstration

Dear Local Church in Lake County, IL.

This is an urgent request for help.  The Illinois Baptist State Association needs the help of the brothers and sisters in the local church.

As you may have heard the Emergency Management Agency of Lake County, IL. has contacted us, asking for help with debris removal (trees) from the recent storms in the Beach Park, Zion and Winthrop Harbor area.

IBSA Blue Cap, Mike Springer, is the operations manager assigned to the deployment.  The tentative starting date for the chain saw teams to start work will be Monday, July 25. mike@springer.net .

As of this date the chain saw teams will be lodging at Meadow Ridge Baptist Church – 4500 Zion Route 143 – Zion, IL 6009 – 847-872-5514.

We need SBC Disaster Relief trained chaplains and assessors who can either go out with the chain saw teams or go door to door in the involved communities.  If you are a SBC Trained Disaster Relief Chaplain please contact IBSA Chaplaincy Blue Cap, Ric Worshill via email atchaplain@shomreem.org or by phone.  If you have been trained in assessments, and wish to serve, please contact Ric Worshill.

We also need brothers and sisters to volunteer to pull brush as the chain saw team members cut the branches down off roofs and from broken trees.  If you are interested in serving in this ministry outreach as a brush puller please contact Mike Springer at mike@springer.net.

There will be several disaster relief workers on site at Meadow Ridge Baptist Church.  We will need to feed them.  We need help with funding for the food.  If you feel called to help please contact Rex Alexander, Specialized Missions Mobilization Director, Illinois Baptist State Association at 217-391-3134.  The people in this area have been devistated by the storms.  Our IBSA Disaster Relief people will need to eat while they are here.  Please pray about this urgent need.

Disaster Relief is one of the most powerful ways to illustrate the love of Christ in the Body of Christ.  We go where people are in need.  We help people without asking for payment.  We pray with people and bring a presence of the Christ in us.

The L-rd bless you, and watch over you; The L-rd make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you;  The L-rd lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace.   [Numbers 6:24-26]

Your brother in Christ, servant and fellow bond-servant in the L-rd.

endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist,

fulfill your ministry.  [2 Timothy 4:5]
